SUBTEXT OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO WIN
1. The Program
Contests (as defined below) will be conducted on the "Subtext™ television show (the "Program") which is operated and produced by Linear Media, Inc. and Subtext, LLC (the "Sponsors"), and is scheduled to air live three (3) times per week from 10:00 p.m. Central time to 12:00 a.m. Central time on Texas Student Television (TSTV). Actual broadcast times may vary. Please check television listings for the broadcast times in your area. Separate Contests will be conducted during each Program. The number of Contests conducted may vary from Program to Program at the sole discretion of the Sponsors.
2. The Contests
During the Program, at various times to be determined at the sole discretion of the Sponsors, the host of the Program (the "Host") will announce the start of a Contest and invite viewers to participate. Each Contest shall begin with the Host's announcement and end when the Host announces that the time for entries has closed. When one Contest ends, the Sponsors, at their sole discretion may choose to begin another Contest. The number of Contests conducted during any Program will be determined by the Sponsors in their sole discretion.
3. Entering the Contests
You may enter a Contest when the Host announces that the Contest has begun. There are two (2) ways to enter a Contest: (1) via text messaging; and (2) via email.
Entry by Text Messaging:
At the time the Host announces the beginning of a new Contest, viewers will be provided a short code to which to send their entries. Text messages must be 160 characters or less (including spaces). You Must have a text messaging capable cellular telephone in order to enter by this method. Please note that entry by text messaging may not be possible with all cellular phone carriers. You will be charged a premium fee of $0.99 for each text message. Additional standard text messaging rates may also apply.
Entry by Email:
Beginning at the time the Host announces a new Contest, you may submit your entry by sending an email to the following email address: contest@subtext.com. Your entry must include your full name, email address and a telephone number where you may be reached during the Program..
4. Entry Terms and Conditions
Instructions for each Contest will be provided on-air during the broadcast of the Program. All entries for a Contest must be received before the Host announces that the time for entry for the Contest has closed. You may enter as many times as you wish for each Contest. All entries become the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned. Sponsors are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, misaddressed, incomplete or illegible entries. Sponsors are not responsible for technical or computer failures, errors or data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections or failed data transmissions. If the Sponsors determine, in their sole discretion, that there is any suspected or actual tampering with a Contest, or if technical difficulties affect the integrity of a Contest, the Sponsors reserve the right to void the entries at issue and/or terminate the Contest. Sponsors further reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not conform to these Official Rules or is inappropriate, at the sole discretion of Sponsors, for display during the show. All disqualifications are final and are not subject to any further appeal or review.
5. Publicity
By entering a Contest, you agree to abide by these Official Rules and the Terms of Use found at www.subtext.com (the "Site"). Except where prohibited by law, submission of an entry constitutes your consent to the use of your entry for promotional purposes in perpetuity throughout the world in any media, including without limitation on air during the broadcast of the Program, on the Site and in advertising and/or promotion of the show or Site, without further payment or consideration. All intellectual property rights arising from the entry as described above shall be the property of the Sponsors. By submitting an entry, you agree to cooperate with Sponsors and take all steps (at Sponsors' expense) to vest or perfect any intellectual property interest so created.
6. Eligibility
The Contests are open to Texas residents who are eighteen (18) years of age or older. Employees of Subtext, LLC, Linear Media, Inc., Texas Student Media, The University of Texas at Austin, and their affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies and their immediate family members and the staff of Texas Student Media are ineligible to participate or win.
7. Selection of Winners
Contest winners will be selected by the Sponsors and the Host (collectively, the "Judges") in their sole discretion. Entries will be judged on the basis of originality and creativity. The Judges' decisions are final.
8. Notification of Winners
Contest winners will be notified during the Program immediately after the winning entry for a Contest is determined. Text message entrants will be notified by text message. Email entrants will be notified by telephone. If, after a reasonable attempt to notify a winner during the Program is unsuccessful, an alternate winner will be selected from among all other eligible entries and notified using the procedures in Paragraph 6 above and this Paragraph.
9. Prizes
Prizes will be determined by the Sponsors and will be announced by the Host at the beginning of each Contest. A prize, at the sole discretion of Sponsors, may consist of more than one product or item. Further, for some Contests, at the sole discretion of Sponsors, prizes may be given to more than one winner. No substitution, assignment, or transfer of prizes is allowed. However, Sponsors reserve the right to award a substitute prize of equal or greater value. Each Contest winner is solely responsible for all taxes and fees associated with receipt and use of each prize. Prizes will be delivered by mail. If a prize is returned as undeliverable, the winner will be deemed to have forfeited that prize.
10. Odds of Winning
The odds of winning any particular Contest depend on the number of entries.
11. Modification of Official Rules
Sponsors reserve the right to amend these Official Rules from time to time. Such amendments will become effective upon announcement or publication. A current copy of the Official Rules may be found at www.subtext.com.
12. Release
By entering a Contest, you agree to hold harmless and indemnify Subtext, LLC, Linear Media, Inc., Texas Student Media, and The University of Texas at Austin, and their affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies, and their respective directors, officers and employees against any and all liability, damages or causes of action with respect to or arising out of your participation in any Contest or the receipt or use of any prize awarded.
